Trends offer consumers hope in uncertain times

Consumers are looking for hope and a sense of certainty, and Dutch trend watcher Aafje Nijman believes that this offers serious opportunities for flowers and plants. “We live in a time of tension and change, which leads to feelings of uncertainty and distrust. Flowers and plants can give the world the positive impulse that is so badly needed.” This is the message behind the Horticulture Sector Trends that Aafje Nijman is presenting for 2024 together with the Flower Council of Holland. There are once again four consumer trends for flowers and plants that are in keeping with the current context.

Inspiration and communication

The trend information was developed by Bureau Nijman + Van Haaster in partnership with Dutch sector organisation Tuinbranche Nederland, iBulb and INretail. The goal is twofold: to give consumers information and inspiration via Flower Council of Holland campaigns and communication; and to offer trend information that the sector can use during, for example, product innovations and presentations. The Flower Council of Holland is more than happy to help growers, traders and florists to implement these trends in practice.

Four style trends for 2024

The Horticulture Sector Trends 2024 emphasise positivity, in terms of colours and the choice of shapes, materials and patterns:
