Start renovation garden centre Dvorak
Smiemans has started with the renovation of the Dvorak garden centre in Teplice/Czech Republic. This 1,400 m2 project was built by them in 2008. To optimise the indoor climate in the garden centre the roof, ventilation windows and screens will be replaced. This will result in further energy savings.

Although the existing structure was built 15 years ago, it is still in excellent condition and will therefore be fitted with transparent polycarbonate roof panels up to 50mm thick. This is a rather unique system developed by Smiemans with a very low U-value. This special highly insulated system has already been installed in Iceland. It underlines the sustainable thinking of this knowledge-based builder.
The mechanism of the continuous ridge ventilation window is also still in good working order and can therefore be reused. The ventilation windows are built out of the highly insulated, thermally broken Smiemans system. The lower roof is a 50mm polycarbonate system without aluminium profiles. The panes are clicked together, greatly reducing thermal bridging. All joints between old and new are given special attention to ensure a clean finish.
The client’s wish is to do this in a short period of time while the shop remained open. Parts of the store will be emptied and cordoned off in cooperation with the client to ensure the safety of customers. All of this will take place during the month of July. A tight timetable should make this possible.
During this time we will also be helping to replace the inside screens, the current one is heavily soiled after many years. Replacing it will give the garden centre a fresher, newer look. The refurbishment will be completed before the busy season starts.
