This project will be built in two phases. Architect is Cobe from Denmark.

Together with main contractor Peab, Smiemans Projecten will start the first phase of construction in autumn 2024. In this phase, the botanical greenhouse and part of the greenhouses will be built. After completion, the special plants will be moved here, after which the old greenhouses will be demolished. Then, phase 3, the construction of the remaining greenhouses, will start.

Various worlds with more than 4,000 plant speciesMore than 15 different worlds with each their specific plant species will be realised, each with their specific climate. It will then house more than 4,000 plant species, including Sweden's largest collection of tropical orchids, carnivorous plants and the rare Easter tree, which is extinct in its natural habitat. The improved facilities will make an important contribution to spreading knowledge about biodiversity and offering educational programmes for visitors of all ages.

Quality and sustainability

The new greenhouses will have a modern and efficient design, focusing on sustainability and environmental responsibility. With smart technical solutions and environmentally friendly working methods, this project will set an example.

Given the complexity of this project, European builder Smiemans Projecten was chosen as they have built several challenging projects for well-known botanic gardens, such as for Flora Köln (DE), RHS Wisley (UK) and Bayan Botanic garden (KW).
