von Smiemans erschienen am 04.11.2025The Campus Science & Green project combines sustainability, functionality and education.
With a surface of 2,290 m², the greenhouse will accomodate innovative techniques such as vertical farming and aquaculture, and will be ready for future applications such as AI and robotics. The design emphasises:
- Sustainability and energy efficiency: Solar panels, CHP, a heat network, LED lighting and CO2 dosing ensure energy-efficient and environmentally friendly operation;
- Optimisation of work and teaching spaces: A clear separation between workspaces and greenhouses promotes hygiene and disease prevention;
- Water management and safety: Underground water collection and vandal-proof infrastructure make the complex robust and future-proof.
Construction will be carried out by Monument Vandekerckhove, a Belgian contractor specialising in restoration, renovation and complex new-build projects. Thanks to careful planning and robust safety measures, the construction work will not disrupt daily school activities.
On November 4, 2025, Smiemans will begin laying the foundations for this impressive, innovative glass construction, which will contribute to the future of sustainable greenhouse horticulture and education in Europe.
