Special publication on greenhouses
Once a year, the editors of the trade magazine DEGA GARTENBAU (Verlag Eugen Ulmer, Stuttgart/Germany) publish a special issue. In particular, it presents an overview of new garden centers and greenhouses in Germany and Europe.

There is building going on in Europe. With many examples, we want to show which trends the sales greenhouses are currently exposed to and why the operators decide in favour of a new building or an extension. Modernisation is the classic choice. Every facility gets on in years and has to be adapted to the changed requirements. A brand new building is rather the exception. More common are extensions, for example to create more sales space or to improve the sales atmosphere of a facility.

Still in vogue is the „upgrade“ in the area of open spaces. Due to the weather, heavy losses have been recorded here recently due to damage to merchandise and customers staying away. This applies not only to the sales areas themselves, but also to other functional areas such as goods receiving or entrance situations.
Particularly popular are convertible systems that provide protection when needed, but otherwise guarantee open-air conditions. Only when the customer feels comfortable can good sales be achieved. Air-conditioning indoors and weather protection outdoors will therefore have to be intensively addressed in the future. Energy management will also remain an ongoing topic. The goal is a low-energy house with state-of-the-art technology in the outer shell and the heating system. This is not only good for the wallet and protects the environment, it also promotes the image of a sales location.
Our overview of new greenhouses can help you!
For several years now, we have published an overview of newly built sales facilities once a year. We ask manufacturers to provide us with their current reference projects, which have either been completed recently or will soon be launched. We do not ask for a lot of detailed information, but for basic data that can be used to classify a new building.
Our overview has one main purpose: to give you an idea of how your colleagues have built, what the trends are and what variations are possible. The number of solutions is as large as the number of companies and contractors! So it’s not necessarily a matter of picking out the plant you want to copy exactly like in a fashion catalog. The examples are meant to stimulate your imagination and creativity so that you can find your very own solution.
But who knows? Perhaps among the new construction projects presented there is one that already comes very close to your own ideas. In this case it is worthwhile to look for the contact with the owner - addresses can be found out fast over Internet. Or you can contact the company that built the greenhouse, which is also listed in the text for each plant.
Since we want to continue to give our readers this overview in the future, we are grateful for your feedback on which information is helpful to you - and which you would still like to have in the future. And where you have found a solution for your construction project through this publication, we would be particularly pleased if you let us know about it!
