A key aspect of the research project is public relations work with questions such as: What is the difference between potting soils that are highly peat-reduced or peat-free and those that consist almost exclusively of peat? What needs to be paid more attention to when buying peat-reduced or peat-free products? What must be taken into account and changed when using them?

To answer these and similar questions and to show differences, a demonstration planting was set up at the HSWT. The potting soils are peat-reduced or peat-free. Commercially available potting soils were also used. Set up are a mixed balcony planting with flowers and a combination of different vegetables. In addition, cocktail tomatoes in tubs can be seen in the various substrate mixtures.
