The certification follows research and inspections conducted by the designated certification body, confirming compliance with the requirements set out in the Product Certification Scheme of the RHP quality mark .
Green Products develops and produces customised plug solutions for propagators of young plants from seeds, cuttings and tissue culture worldwide . According to Anna Leenheer, responsible for sales, the company initiated the certification process to ensure its GreenPlug paper pots meet all applicable quality standards and to provide customers with consistent, high-quality deliveries.
The RHP quality mark sets stringent requirements for plugs, covering parameters such as volume, dimensions, rootability, water buffer capacity, water uptake rate and nutritional aspects . Measurement methods for volume and dimensions have been developed in alignment with CEN (European Committee for Standardization) and European legislation . Beyond defined minimum and maximum values, the standards place strong emphasis on uniformity.
In addition, RHP-certified plugs must comply with general quality mark requirements, ensuring they are free from heavy metals, radioactivity, harmful substances, weed seeds, and plant and human pathogens . RHP states that it continues to further develop and expand its standards in cooperation with producers and users.
