This collaboration strengthens both companies’ commitment to innovation, quality, and customer success, expanding their breeding programs in Chrysanthemum and Limonium sinense to deliver more value and diversity to growers worldwide.

Over the past few years, the global chrysanthemum market has experienced continuous growth — particularly in Colombia and, more recently, in Kenya — driven by increasing flower sales to the U.S. and European markets. This highly competitive segment continues to evolve with advancements in productivity, resilience, and postharvest performance, alongside a growing demand for new colors, forms, and styles.

Two strong companies

Progeny Breeding is a family-owned breeding company based in Bogotá, Colombia, specializing in chrysanthemums. Established in 2010 as part of a family business with over 50 years in flower production, Progeny has become known for its professionalism, pioneering approach, and commitment to excellence. The company focuses on breeding programs for cold resistance and high-performing varieties that meet the evolving needs of growers. Progeny is also recognized for its high-quality plant material, strong sales service, and continuous improvement through analysis, control, and standardization of processes. The company has focused on breeding programs that emphasize productivity, and diversity in chrysanthemums, providing growers with a wide assortment and tailored solutions for various growing conditions.

Among Progeny’s standout varieties are Carina, Barroco, Kampala, Irene, Guadalupe, and Cooper — each showcasing vibrant colors, rich textures, and exceptional vase life. With one of the largest R&D departments in the industry, the company develops innovative varieties that are more durable, efficient, profitable, and beautiful. Danziger operates production and trial sites across Israel, Colombia, Kenya, and Guatemala, serving customers in over 60 countries. For more than 70 years, Danziger has been recognized as one of the world’s leading breeders in the cut flower industry, developing iconic varieties such as XLence, Green Dragon, and Scoop. These benchmark varieties exemplify Danziger’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and supporting grower success.

Uniting Strengths for the Next Era of Breeding

Through this strategic alliance, the two companies will combine their complementary strengths to bring new opportunities to chrysanthemum growers in Colombia and worldwide. The partnership will allow Progeny to open new markets outside Colombia and benefit from Danziger’s extensive international network, while Danziger will expand its breeding activities in Bogotá — strengthening its local presence and leveraging Progeny’s expertise in the region. The cooperation will also include testing and selection programs in Antioquia, as both companies join forces across breeding and sales teams to better serve growers.

Ori Danziger, Deputy CEO of Danziger, commented:

“Integrating a new breeding program that brings distinct genetics, and unique strengths will make us stronger breeders and provide even greater value to our growers. We are truly excited about this partnership and strongly believe that by combining our capabilities and passion for innovation, we will deliver meaningful value to the global floriculture industry.”

Veronica Herrera, CEO of Progeny, added:

“This partnership marks an important milestone for Progeny. As a company built on decades of family experience in the flower industry, we are proud to join forces with Danziger — a partner that shares our values of professionalism, innovation, and customer focus. This collaboration will enable us to bring our genetics to new markets, continue improving our breeding through shared knowledge, and strengthen our commitment to chrysanthemum growers in Colombia and around the world.”

Following the signing of the agreement, Danziger will begin joint breeding activities at Progeny’s Bogotá site, in addition to its existing operations in Antioquia, Colombia. Several members of Progeny’s management team — including breeding, sales, and operations managers — will join Danziger to ensure smooth integration and continuous exchange of knowledge between the teams.

Effective from November 1st 2025, all sales and marketing activities for Progeny’s chrysanthemum varieties will be managed exclusively by Danziger.
